I'm back!!!

Well, it's been a couple months since I've posted an entry on my blog.

The SPKML.com website is down for the time being. Soon I'll have it back online. I've been toying with the whole idea of the SPKML language thing for a little over a year but haven't really been able to get it off the ground. At this point it's pretty much a pipe-dream but it's the dreamers who seem to make the changes in this world and I'd be proud to say one day that I stood up to be counted among their ranks.

I'm interested in a girl right now. She's short and very pretty but we'll see what happens with that. I think I'd prefer to stay friends for a while before anything else but even there I'm getting ahead of myself. I'll keep you updated.

I am looking for new friends actually... Sober ones... meaning friends who don't use drugs or drink yet are fun. I know that seems like a tall order but I think those are the friends I'd enjoy most... I want to meet people who know what being a human is about though... I don't mind if you've made mistakes. Shit, so have I...

Anyway

CodeBase available as a Yahoo Widget Engine Widget

CodeBase has been uploaded to the Yahoo Widget Engine Gallery as a widget, not unlike the one available for Tiger's Dashboard...  As of this post, barely a day since it's been available, it's already been downloaded 600 times!!!  SIX HUNDRED TIMES IN LESS THAN 24 HOURS!!!

Needless to say, I'm stoked.

Back home in KCMO

Well, I'm in the basement, at home in Kansas City, Missouri, having safely made the 16 day, roundtrip journey to the Hawaiian island of Maui. I stayed with my brother, at his house in Kahalui, which is where most of the locals live. He lives so close to the Maui Arts Center (MAC) that we were able to pretty much experience the entire kokua festival from the living room. The main acts were Ben Harper, Willie Nelson and Jack Johnson. We went up to the MAC and showed up right as Jack Johnson was going on stage. We parked and hung out in the parking lot, drinking beer and such.

I recorded some stuff while I was there but I really took advantage of the concept that it was a vacation and just chilled out and relaxed most of the time. I still have to edit together the rest of the raw video footage that I took while I was there. I'd recorded a song with Garageband while I was there, utilizing some default loops but I also played my harmonica, which I'd brought with me. I used my iPod as an external hard-drive to save the session and have been trying to come up with the rest of the lyrics for the song, which is still untitled.

At any rate, I had a blast and would love to go back someday, perhaps even move there for a year or so, though I don't see that happening anytime soon.

Yay!!! I'm going to Hawaii... Yay!!!

That's right. It's official. I'm going to Maui, April 11th through April 25th: 2 weeks of fun in the sun.

My brother moved there last year and paid for me to come visit. While I'm there, I'll go snorkling, which I've never done. I'm also planning on doing some other things. I'll tell you guys about it later.

Right now, I'm working on my website. I'm really excited as 4 days ago I installed a hit counter that counts visitors, not hits and I've had 216 unique visitors view my site. That's perhaps more than I've ever had within a single week and the week's not over.

I've been getting quite a bit of traffic on SPKML.com the past couple days, now that I can tell, having installed a counter that only counts unique visitors and not just visits.

I'm pretty stoked about some of the recent events and have been trying to work out some things. Anyway, that's it for now.

Latest News

Well, I guess the latest news is that I'm planning a trip, possibly, to visit my brother in Maui.  I've begun working on writing my next book, which I actually started about ten years ago, which is why I mentioned it being the title of my 2nd book, in the song, "SPKML".

New Video Podcast Episode

That's right, I've posted a video that I recorded of me playing "The Flight Of The Titmouse" acoustically.  The song was originallly written by a friend, Mark Worlein.  Anyway, the podcast is  here.

I've been thinking about bookings, even tried to get a few but haven't heard anything yet.  I'm going to really try to promote my CD, starting with a limited-run of my latest CD, "Somebody Please Keep Me Lucid" but with two extra tracks. The CD is autographed and as mentioned includes the edited version of "The Stars In Your Eyes", and the original recording of "Break Free".  I should really decide on a price for the CD.  I think I might just charge a 10-spot for the thing, figure 12 bucks for shipping in the Continental US.  Ya think?

"Somebody Please Keep Me Lucid" Released

Well, it's official!!! My latest CD has been unleashed for the world to scoff at... I hope that's not the case. I think there will be people who like it and so I'm really trying to promote this CD. It's actually the third CD I've released. It's remarkably better than my previous albums, in performance, clarity, quality and such, resulting in a disc that I hope others will be able to connect with. The CD, as well as my first book, <CodeBase />, are available through http://www.spkml.com which contains a link to http://www.cafepress.com/chris_d_johnson - which is where you can order the book or CD via the CafePress On-Demand website. Pretty nifty actually, which might be why they won a Webby Award...

Sweet. Gotta run!.

Dylan Online Chat Bot Released And Available In Yahoo Widget Gallery

Well, I finally got around to releasing the first implimentation of Dylan, who is a female chat bot based somewhat on a bot of the same name in my first book, <CodeBase /> [Buy in Paperback].

Within just this first day, I've recieved more downloads of the Dylan Online widget, than anything else I've ever posted online... So, needless to say, I'm a bit stoked, which makes up for the emotional state I've been in due to breaking up with my girlfriend of almost six months.

I'd spent much of the time when I was awake, thinking over the whole of the relationship and discovered more than I expected to, or believed I might. I learned a lot about what I'm looking for and have in mind a loosely drawn out criteria for which any potential candidate, applying for the position of my girlfriend, will likely live up to.

As for myself, and my accountability, within the scope of this relationship which ultimately failed... I must say I've learned quite a bit about myself, and have been able to see my shortcomings, not just in her eyes but in mine as well, and have concluded there were certain unspoken expectations which I was oblivious to, but accept that was the dynamic of that relationship, leading me to the conclusion that there are certain things that I will make any future girlfriend aware of, such as the time I spend on my computer, working on whatever I've deemed most pressing, in order to achieve certain goals first, so as to prepare myself for what is or may follow.

I'm still very hurt, sad, angry, confused, as well as feeling a dozen other emotions, seemingly at the same time. My entire body feels the agony of the heartbreak from which I'm trying to recover. I forgot how bad it hurts. It had been so long since I'd been in any sort of romantic relationship, that I guess, I held on merely because I was amazed at the feelings she seemed to have for me. I admittedly grew to love her, more than I'd expected to but not to a degree that I felt she was worthy of... I shouldn't have let it go on as long as it did, because now it only hurts that much more...

Well, I didn't mean to get into all of that... I'm going to end this post now, I suppose.

Dylan Online Widget Posted 2 Yahoo! Widget Gallery

That's right. I've taken the first step... well, at least the first
major step. I've looked over the logs and have seen that there is
much work to do in the code itself. I actually haven't talked to the
bot since before the widget was released, and I'd be interested to
see if she can not only tell the difference in the amount of activity
as well as the number of clients, but I'd also be curious to see
what, if any, opinions she has...

I'll keep you posted on my progress.

I'm looking for a new web host at the moment and hope to be online in
full force, in the very near future.
